Care Guide
At Zuvemori, we want your dresses and outfit sets to look their best for as long as possible. Because our pieces feature a range of construction methods and decorative elements, care needs can vary from item to item. Always check the care label sewn into your garment first—those instructions take priority over the general guidance below.
Before You Clean: Check Your Label
Every Zuvemori garment includes a care label with specific cleaning instructions. Before washing, spot-cleaning, or storing an item, locate this label (usually found at the inner side seam or back neck). If the label is missing, damaged, or unreadable, contact our support team with your order number and a photo of the garment before attempting any cleaning.
Embellished and Delicate Pieces
Several of our designs incorporate delicate details such as pearl embellishments, beadwork, sequins, fringe, lace trim, and crochet elements. These features require extra attention:
- Embellished garments (beaded, sequined, pearl-trimmed, or fringed pieces): Spot-clean only with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid rubbing directly over beads, sequins, or fringe. If the garment needs a full clean, we recommend taking it to a professional dry cleaner experienced with embellished fashion. One of our representative pieces specifically notes "Dry clean recommended to preserve the structured fabric and delicate pearl embellishments"—treat similar items the same way.
- Lace and crochet details: These open-weave elements can snag easily. Keep them away from rough surfaces, zippers, and jewelry that could catch the fibers. Hand-wash gently if the care label permits, or spot-clean with a soft cloth.
- Appliqué and textured surfaces: Pieces with layered petal-like appliqué or dimensional overlays should not be scrubbed. Gently dab stains from the underside of the fabric if possible, and avoid wringing, which can flatten or distort the texture.
General Washing Guidance
For garments without heavy embellishment, follow the care label instructions. When no label is available, use these conservative steps:
- Turn the garment inside out to protect the outer surface and any printed or dyed areas.
- Use cold water and a gentle cycle if machine-washing is appropriate for the fabric type. One of our representative pieces specifies "Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle or hand wash. Hang to dry"—use this as a baseline for similar lightweight woven or tie-dye dresses.
- For hand-washing, submerge the garment in cool water with a small amount of mild detergent. Gently agitate without twisting or wringing.
- Rinse thoroughly until no soap residue remains.
Do not use bleach, fabric softeners, or strong stain removers unless the care label explicitly permits them. If you are unsure about a cleaning method, test any product on an inconspicuous area first (such as an inner seam allowance) and wait for it to dry before proceeding.
Drying and Storage
How you dry and store your garment matters as much as how you wash it:
- Drying: Hang to dry whenever possible, away from direct sunlight, which can fade colors over time. Do not use a tumble dryer unless the care label confirms it is safe. For knitted, smocked, or elasticated areas (such as smocked cuffs or waistbands), lay flat to dry to prevent stretching.
- Storage: Hang dresses on padded or wide hangers to maintain their shape and avoid shoulder creases. For items with fringe, beadwork, or appliqué, consider storing them in a breathable garment bag to protect delicate details from dust and snagging. Ensure the storage area is dry and well-ventilated to prevent moisture buildup.
